Community Event: Community forum with Council Member Juarez, to discuss the City’s budget for 2019-2020, at Bitter Lake CC

This will serve, in part, as a kind of training for the community to advocate for our priorities during the Council's review of the Mayor's proposed budget over October and November.  It will include a presentation from Ben Noble, the City's Budget Director, and a Q&A session with Councilmember Juarez, based on questions submitted by the community.

Community Street Cleanup: 130th

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY A neighborhood street clean-up event will meet at the northwest corner of North Acres Park at 10:00 and work west along 130th St.  Waste collecting gear will be provided along with drinks and snacks, but do dress for the weather and bring work gloves if you have them.  It’s a great way to meet your neighbors whileshowing off your community pride. HLCC Monthly Meeting: Dr. Cody King on the Opiate Crisis

October 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

As a medical student, Dr. King did extensive research on the abuse of opiates which has swept our country recently.  He is now a general practitioner at Kaiser Permanente, Northgate. We'll have refreshments at socializing at 7:00, and Dr. King will start speaking a bit after 7:30 (after club business).
