Ethan Bradford, President of the HLCC, made the following announcements:

  • Games Night is the 3rd Sat as usual (Oct 21)
  • HLCC Holiday Crafts Festival to benefit Mary’s Place will be held Dec 10. 10am-3pm

Randy Harkness, VP who arranges for our speakers, announced the Nov 2 General Meeting main speaker will be a Seattle DOT representative who will speak about the new Pedestrian/Bike bridge being built over I-5. This is part of the Northgate area improvements related to transit. The Dec 7 speaker will be the Imam from our local Idriss Mosque.

Sheryl Grater spoke briefly about the Halloween/Harvest party co-sponsored by the HLCC and North Seattle Church. It will take place 10/28/17 at Northgate Elementary School from 5:30pm-7:30 pm. In addition to the ever popular “Fishing for Prizes” booth, Reptile Man will do two shows and Balloon Man will also be there. Randy offered to do cider press. Volunteers are needed and will be requested on Nextdoor and our website.

Paulien Slow from Forterra talked about the Green Seattle Day event planned for Nov 4th, 2017 from 9am to noon. They hope to plant 1,000 trees in various parks in the city. In our neighborhood, at Northacres Park, trees and native plants will be planted mainly in the area between the dog park and the spray park. Volunteers are welcome including kids. The speaker from Mary’s Place, Ryan Kennedy, was a “no show” so the meeting was adjourned.
